Launching Fiscal FactCheck & Live-Tweeting the #CNBCGOPDebate
We are pleased to launch the Fiscal FactCheck series, a project of the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget. Beginning during tonight’s presidential debate and continuing throughout the 2016 campaigns, our experts in budget, tax, health, and spending policy will evaluate the truthfulness of the candidates’ claims on fiscal and economic issues. Tonight's CNBC "Your Money, Your Vote" Republican primary debate will surely touch on fiscal issues, and and we'll be FactChecking the claims at our new Fiscal FactCheck page along with the Twitter handle @FiscalFactCheck. You can check out a live Twitter feed below:
Inheriting a still recovering economy combined with high and rising debt, the next President will have a large responsibility on his or her hands. We hope that the candidates will present honest proposals to address these and other critical issues facing our nation.
As you watch tonight’s debate, keep in mind what our future holds, and carefully consider whether the candidates’ ideas would improve the economy and put the debt on a sustainable downward path.
Tonight, we will be live on social media offering our expert analysis for why the candidates’ claims are (or are not) true. Follow us on our Fiscal FactCheck page and on Twitter and Facebook. If you believe that we have overlooked a particular claim that should be addressed, contact us or comment below and we will do our best to run the claim through our Fiscal FactCheck.
