Three More FDIC Bank Closings
On Friday evening, the FDIC reported that it has taken over three additional banks (Venture Bank, Brickwell Community Bank, and Corus Bank) for a cost of around $2 billion.
This brings the total number of failed banks since the beginning of 2008 to 92. Total deposits of all failed banks now equal $82.98 billion for 2009 and over $316 billion since the beginning of 2008, all at an estimated cost to the FDIC of $46.23 billion.
