Big Ideas: Cybersecurity Conversation with Senator Angus King and Representative Mike Gallagher

The United States faces an unprecedented challenge when it comes to cyber preparedness. From attacks on critical infrastructure to state and non-state actors seeking to undermine our democracy, confronting these cyber threats will require a comprehensive and coordinated strategy. BIG IDEAS: Cybersecurity featured Senator Angus King (I-ME) and Representative Mike Gallagher (R-WI), co-chairs of the Cyberspace Solarium Commission, discussing the state of our cyber-readiness, the digital threats looming on the horizon, and the Commission's recommendations for how we can meet these challenges.

Senator Angus King was sworn in as Maine's first Independent United States Senator in January 2013, filling the same seat once held by storied Maine leaders Edmund Muskie, George Mitchell, and Olympia Snowe. Now in his second term, Senator King is a member of the Armed Services Committee, the Select Committee on Intelligence, the Committee on Energy and Natural Resources, and the Committee on Rules and Administration.

Representative Mike Gallagher was first elected in 2016 and represents Wisconsin's 8th District in the U.S. House of Representatives. He is a 7th generation Wisconsin native, born and raised in Green Bay. Representative Gallagher joined the United States Marine Corps the day he graduated from college and served for seven years on active duty as a Counterintelligence/Human Intelligence Officer and Regional Affairs Officer for the Middle East/North Africa, eventually earning the rank of Captain. He currently serves on the House Armed Services and Transportation and Infrastructure Committees.
