Maya MacGuineas to Testify Before Two Congressional Committees on Wednesday
Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget president Maya MacGuineas will testify before two House Committees on Wednesday, March 14 on two important fiscal issues.
The first hearing before the House Budget Committee is entitled "CBO Oversight: Perspectives from Outside Experts" and will cover the Congressional Budget Office's (CBO) role in the budget process. MacGuineas will testify on the second panel with former CBO Associate Director for Legislative Affairs Sandy Davis. Former CBO Directors Alice Rivlin (also a CRFB board member) and Doug Holtz-Eakin will be on the first panel. The hearing will begin at 10:00 a.m. Eastern time in Room 1334 of the Longworth House Office Building.
The second hearing before the House Ways and Means Committee's Tax Policy Subcommittee is entitled "Post Tax Reform Evaluation of Recently Expired Tax Provisions." It will examine tax extenders that were recently extended through 2017 in the budget deal and are currently expired. MacGuineas will be on the third of four panels to discuss the tax and budgetary implications of these extenders along with witnesses from the Heritage Foundation, the Institute on Taxation and Economic Policy, Taxpayers for Common Sense, and the Center for American Progress. This hearing will also begin at 10:00 a.m. Eastern time in Room 1100 of the Longworth House Office Building.
