Bowles, Simpson, and MacGuineas Discuss Fiscal Cliff

Over the past couple of days, CRFB President Maya MacGuineas and CRFB Board Members former Senator Alan Simpson and Erskine Bowles have made the rounds on the news networks.

At the Nightly Business Report, Bowles and Simpson spoke about the Fiscal Cliff. In it, Erskine Bowles lamanted the fact that lawmakers are willing to risk a recession over the fiscal cliff saying that "to me, it makes no sense whatsoever." Simpson added that there was plenty of blame to go around. When asked on how to balance the economic recovery with a deficit reduction plan, Bowles spoke of one of the principles of their report: do not disrupt the economic recovery.

Over at Bloomberg Television, MacGuineas spoke with "Market Makers" about the current fiscal problems aflicting our economy, the recent CBO report and its warnings about the recession-causing Fiscal Cliff and the current the election. She called on the candidates to tell the American public how they would fix the problem.
